On 16, 17 and 18 February 2024 I had the pleasure of attending the Vietnamese Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival, which was well organised by the Vietnamese Community in Australia NSW Chapter [VCA-NSW] at the Fairfield Showground. The festival was a lively and vibrant event, offering a diverse array of experiences. Attendees had the pleasure of exploring numerous food stalls and information kiosks, and enjoying live music, cultural entertainment, festival rides, seeing firecrackers, fireworks, lion dancing and much more. On the second day, Saturday 17 February, at the official ceremony were New South Wales Premier, the Hon. Chris Minns, along with some of my State parliamentary colleagues, who included Nathan Hagarty, Charishma Kaliyanda, Donna Davis, Stephen Bali, and Federal MPs, who included Chris Bowen, Jason Clare and Tony Burke, as well as many local councillors and councillors from elsewhere in New South Wales. It was truly wonderful to witness the presence of notable figures enhancing the festive atmosphere and creating lasting memories for all in attendance. I congratulate President Dr Thang Ha and all the VCA-NSW team for successfully organising this community and cultural event.
