I would like to extend my appreciation to Viet Tan Australia for organising Human Rights Day on the 10th of December 2023. The 2023 theme was Freedom, Equality and Justice for All. On this day 10th December 1948, exactly 75 years ago the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights enshrines the inalienable rights that everyone is entitled to as a human being regardless of race, colour, religion, gender, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth, or other status. The Declaration is the most translated document, and available in more than 500 languages. I thank Mr Long Tran, the Representative of Viet Tan/NSW Chapter, and Viet Tan Australia for inviting me to this special event in Freedom Plaza Cabramatta. I also acknowledge their immense efforts over the many years to advocate for human rights and democracy in Vietnam and around the world.
