Remembering the Vietnamese Refugee Journey

I had the privilege of attending the "Remembering the Vietnamese Refugee Journey" event at the Vietnamese Community & Cultural Centre in Bonnyrigg on the 23rd of June 2024. The event was organised by the Vietnamese Community in Australia - NSW Chapter [VCA-NSW], an organisation dedicated to representing and supporting the Vietnamese Community in NSW. The heartfelt stories shared by community leaders and members painted a vivid picture of their migration journey and the refugee landscape in Australia during the 1970s, 80s, and 90s. These narratives offered insight into the historical context, including policies and legal frameworks that shaped Australia's humanitarian approach of the time. I extend my sincere thanks to Dr. Peter Cao Thang Ha, President of VCA-NSW, for his kind invitation. I would also like to recognise the VCA-NSW team for their dedication in organising this event. Next year will mark the 50th year anniversary of Vietnamese Settlement in Australia. I look forward to participating in the many planned commemorations and celebrations to honour this significant milestone
