On 21 July 2024 I had the pleasure of attending the Pakistan Mango and Cultural Festival, organised by the Consulate General of Pakistan, the High Commission for Pakistan and the Pakistani community. Mangoes are the national fruit of Pakistan and are prized for their intense flavour and rich sweetness. Mangoes from Pakistan are undoubtedly some of the most remarkable mangoes in the world. More than just a celebration of pride for the national fruit, the Pakistan Mango and Cultural Festival was an expression of Pakistan's vibrant and unique culture through the plethora of activities, including musical performances, exhibitions of artistic creations and numerous stalls serving traditional Pakistani cuisine. The festival brought together the tight‑knit community of Pakistanis and individuals from a diverse range of cultures to celebrate Pakistani culture. Many seized this opportunity to connect with friends, family and strangers or indulge in the robust customs and traditions. I thank my local friend Dr Ali Safraz and the Pakistani community for extending the invitation to this wonderful event.
