Mrs Vatsana Souvannavong is an exceptional community leader, whose dedication has made a lasting impact on the Lao community in my electorate and across Australia. Arriving in Australia with her family in 1975, Ms Souvannavong became a pivotal figure in supporting newly arrived Lao refugees. As the first President of the Lao Refugee Association, which is the Lao Community Advancement Co‑op [LCAC] today, Mrs Souvannavong worked tirelessly to assist families in their settlement. From her very first days in Australia to the present, Mrs Souvannavong has remained actively involved in religious, cultural, and social events within the Lao community. Her lifelong dedication and service to LCAC and the broader Lao community are exceptional and deserves our heartfelt recognition. On behalf of our local community, I extend my gratitude to Mrs Souvannavong for her outstanding contributions and the lasting impact she has made on our multicultural society today.
