Mr Sa-Nga Boutkaska

Following the fall of the Kingdom of Laos in 1975, Mr Sa-Nga Boutkaska, an army captain of the Royal Laos Army, was forced to endure a decade of hardship in the labour camp. After escaping from the prison camp, he successfully fled to Australia in 1986 with the support of the Lao community, where he was joyfully reunited with his wife and children who had already been brought here in Australia from refugee camp in Thailand. Since his arrival in Australia, Mr Boutkaska has devoted himself to serving the Laos community. He played an important role in fund-raising and overseeing the construction of the Laos Cultural Centre (Laos Buddhist temple) in Edensor Park, where he served as a secretary and treasurer. By working towards advancing the Laos community, Mr Boutkaska embodies the spirit of humility and selflessness. The lifelong contributions he has made will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the Laos community. On behalf of our local community, I acknowledge Mr Boutkaska for his dedicated service and thank him for the invaluable contributions he has made over the years.
