Richard Pritchard OAM, President of Canley Heights RSL, is a living legacy in my community. Since his youth Richard has shown a passion for serving his nation and comrades, a passion that has grown stronger with time. Richard joined the British Army when he was 15 and served as a Queen's Guard before he moved to Australia in the early 60s. He was in the Australian Army from 1967 to 1973, during which time he served in the Vietnam War. Richard's firsthand experience as a veteran fuels his commitment to serving fellow veterans, particularly the local veteran community. Richard's enduring effort to ensure the spirit of Australian service men and women and their legacies are passed down to future generations is extraordinary. His co-founding of the Victory in the Pacific Day stands as one of his many remarkable contributions. This year marks Richard's 50 years of service with the Returned and Services League. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Richard and my profound gratitude for his invaluable contributions to my local community.
