MR LONG HUY NGUYEN, VEFA Vice President

21 June 2024

Mr Long Huy Nguyen is not only a lifelong learner who has achieved academic success but also a passionate community leader with a strong desire to help others. Mr Nguyen, an Australian of Vietnamese heritage, migrated to Australia in 1987 after earning a PhD degree in Japan. He pursued additional qualifications crucial for roles in community services, focusing on advancing his skills in the public sector, community engagement, and language teaching. After retiring, Mr Nguyen joined the NSW Vietnamese Elderly Friendship Association [VEFA] as a Vice President overseeing external affairs. Utilising his advanced language skills and communication abilities, Mr Nguyen has been a pillar in fostering connections and building mutual rapport between VEFA and other community members and government bodies. His efforts have led to increased mutual benefits and enriched experiences for all involved within his community. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to Mr Nguyen for his exemplary commitment to learning, which illustrates the value of continuous personal improvement in community services. I thank Mr Nguyen for his dedication and service to community.
