I recognise Mr John Dean, President of Mounties Group. John was born and raised in South-West Sydney before going on to study electronic engineering and then electrical engineering. He has spent more than 50 years volunteering in the local community around Fairfield, Liverpool and Cabramatta. For the past 26 years he has been a board member of Mounties Group and held positions such as sports director, treasurer, vice president and currently president. During his time in leadership positions for Mounties Group, the club has grown from 20,000 to more than 250,000 members. Its venues have grown from one venue to eight across three areas of Greater Sydney, and now employs 1,300 local people. Mounties Group has always been a profit-for-purpose business, and for more than 60 years its board members have all been volunteers using the profits to improve the lives of local people. Since John became president, Mounties Group now offers general practice medicine, home care nursing, wheelchairs, mobility aids and allied health services to make the lives of local people more independent.
