I acknowledge a distinguished community leader, Mr Chung Van Duong, president of NSW Vietnamese Elderly Friendship Association [VEFA], for his remarkable contributions to some 1,300 senior members of Vietnamese heritage in my electorate of Cabramatta and beyond. Mr Duong is among the first generation of Vietnamese Australians. Since the early '90s he has served voluntarily in various managerial capacities, notably as president of VEFA. With his profound care‑for‑others nature and insights spanning three decades, Mr Duong has championed numerous programs to address the needs, struggles and opportunities to enhance quality of life for Vietnamese Australian elderly residents and their families. I am particularly impressed by the Vietnamese Family Day program. It is part of a broader effort to bridge gaps between the older and younger generations. Mr Duong's dedicated leadership and seamless efforts to empower vulnerable elderly community members are commendable. On behalf of my local community, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for his contributions and wish him continued success.
