Mr Bouathong Sananikone

Mr Bouasy Sourignavong was born on the 10 March 1951 and arrived in Australia to seek refuge in October 1978. He served on the Board of Directors for the Laos Community Advancement Co-op in NSW [LCAC] for 10 years until December of 2020. During this time, he was a strong advocate for Australian values, freedom and democracy, and multiculturalism in Australia. He was a strong promoter of social cohesion and harmony and has been one of the most active fund-raising committee members of LCAC for religious and cultural events. Through his work, Mr Sourignavong assisted refugees and immigrants with their integration into Australia. This assisted in reducing feelings of isolation, stress and loneliness that many migrants feel when arriving to a different culture and society. Further, Mr Sourignavong assisted in facilitating cultural awareness, maintenance of heritage and the celebration of traditions, enriching the lives of both refugees and existing Australians. I would like to recognise and commend Mr Bouasy Sourignavong for his remarkable services to the LCAC and the Australian society at large.
