Since 1973 Club Marconi has been a hub for tennis players in my community. On 4 June 2023 I had the pleasure of joining my community to commemorate 50 years of tennis at the club with a celebratory barbecue on its tennis courts. While I did not manage to show off my tennis skills, I was able to meet local tennis legends, including David Hall, one of Australia's greatest wheelchair tennis champions; David Jeflea, the only Grand Slam finalist from Fairfield City; and Stewart Whicker, the head coach and program director of the Marconi Tennis and Squash Centre. I thank Stewart for inviting me to such a great community event. I acknowledge the significant contributions he has made to my community and the wider tennis community.
