On 6 October 2024, I had the honour and privilege of attending the Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony at the Minh Giac Monastery in Cabramatta. I was joined by many Venerables, Buddhist leaders, and representatives from temples in Cabramatta and the surrounding areas to mark the official beginning of the construction of the monastery. On this momentous occasion, I would like to acknowledge the Minh Giac Buddhist Association for their steadfast compassion, charitable spirit, dedication, and commitment to enhancing the lives of many Buddhist followers in my electorate and beyond. The Association provides not only a spiritual sanctuary for worship and meditation but also vital support for community members from disadvantaged backgrounds. It offers shelter for victims of crime, including domestic violence, as well as assistance for those experiencing homelessness. I congratulate Venerable Thich Hanh Hieu and Venerable Thich Thong Tue on this special ceremony and thank them for the kind invitation. I look forward to witnessing the fully completed monastery.
