On 24th April 2024, I had the pleasure of visiting Fairfield Hospital to discuss the expansion of urgent care services for elderly people across South-Western Sydney, including my electorate of Cabramatta. The Community Older Persons Intervention and Liaison Outreach Team [COPILOT] program is crucial in reducing medical wait times in the emergency department by addressing the medical concerns of elderly members of the community who face non-life-threatening conditions. I accompanied my local parliamentary colleagues and the Minister for Health to listen to various community members, patients, and medical professionals and discuss some issues facing our medical system. The CO-PILOT program is an essential service that would undoubtedly reduce pressure on our medical system. I would like to thank Sonia Marshall Chief Executive of South Western Sydney Local Health District, Paul Crowe the General Manager and all the nurses, doctors, and other medical staff at Fairfield Hospital who provide vital medical care, especially to vulnerable members of the elderly community. These medical professionals have responded to the medical and physical needs of the most vulnerable individuals in our community, and I am so grateful for their exemplary service to our local community.
