On 4 June 2023, I had the pleasure of joining my community in commemorating the valuable contributions made by the Chaldean Australian community at the Chaldean Festival. The event celebrating their culture, heritage and traditions took place at Fairfield Showground and featured an array of traditional foods, folk dances and beautiful cultural attire. I also had the honour of meeting His Grace Mar Amel Nona, the Archbishop of the Chaldean Catholic Diocese of Australia and New Zealand, who kindly shared his knowledge and wisdom with me. As the indigenous people of Iraq, the Chaldean community in my electorate hold a significant role in preserving their important heritage and culture. I thank the festival committee for their efforts in organising this event, and I look forward to the ongoing contributions they will continue to make to my electorate.
