In February 2023, a devastating fire burnt down the Bright Moon Temple in Springvale, Melbourne. In a great display of community unity, the Australian Chinese Buddhist Society organised a fundraising dinner to support the rebuild of the Bright Moon Temple. On 11 June, I had the privilege of attending this event, which featured raffles and an auction. The grand total raised amounted to an incredible $238,888. I would like to commend Mr James Chan, OAM, chairman of the Australian Chinese Buddhist Society; Mr Vincent Kong, OAM, president of the Australian Chinese Buddhist Society; and the organising committee, volunteers and donors involved in such an outstanding event. I would also like to wish Mr Vinh Ly, president of Bright Moon Temple, all the best in his efforts to reinstate an important landmark in his community.
