On 9 June 2023 Club Marconi hosted the Australian National Bocce Championship. I had the privilege of attending the opening ceremony, where I participated in bowling a bocce ball. While my bowl was not good enough to consider a career change, I was extremely impressed by the display of skills by the athletes. It was also inspiring to see Australian Special Olympics bocce athletes being included in the championship for the first time. That is a testament to the celebration of diversity and inclusion in my community. I thank Mr Frank Funari, president of Bocce Australia, for inviting me to participate in the opening of the championship. I congratulate the athletes from all around Australia, the coaches and all those involved in the championship on their success.
