On 9 November 2024, I had the honour and privilege of attending the fiftieth anniversary celebration of the Assyrian Diqlat School in the Nineveh Room at Eden Venues in Edensor Park. The remarkable occasion was dedicated to honouring the past and present students, teachers, principals and volunteers who have played a vital role in the school's success over the past five decades. It was a joyous event that brought together the community to reflect on the school's history and the incredible contributions of all those involved. The celebration also provided an opportunity to acknowledge the support from the Australian and New South Wales governments that have been instrumental in the growth of community language schools. It was an inspiring evening filled with gratitude, celebration and a deep sense of community pride. It was wonderful to know that the work and legacy of the Assyrian Diqlat School will continue to thrive for many years to come.
