On 4 October 2024, I had the honour of attending the 73rd Anniversary of the Thu Duc Military Academy. This annual event is significant for the Vietnamese community in my electorate, particularly for those who were involved in the Vietnam War, defending the South Vietnam state and democracy. The Thu Duc Military Academy was pivotal in producing skilled officers for the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces, with graduates serving across major branches, such as the Infantry, Navy, Rangers, Air Force, and Artillery. Their role was instrumental in safeguarding South Vietnam's sovereignty. Each year, former graduates, officers, and their families gather to celebrate the Anniversary. They also honour those who gave their lives in defence of the Republic of Vietnam, and to remember those who perished during the perilous journey in search of freedom after the war. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the organising committee for their kind invitation. Special recognition goes to the outgoing President Mr. Xuan Lam for his wonderful work over the years. I also congratulate Mr. Vinh Phuc Le on his recent election as the incoming President.
